The first annual fund-raiser, a “Chuckers for Charity” event, featuring “An Afternoon of Polo and Tango with Robert Duvall at Foxlease Farm in Upperville, Virginia”.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011 began with the T.I.G.E.R.S. Team introducing Doc Antle, Bubbles the elephant, her friends the orangutans and baby tigers to the Evans Home for Children and a local first grade class.

“We were thrilled to be part of this adventure! All of us, kids and adults, will remember our encounter with those gentle creatures for the rest of our lives. The defining similarity among our children is that they have faced many challenging and unhappy experiences in their lives. What an honor to be able to share with them an experience of such a different type, and to know that it made them feel special and appreciated to be a part of it!

The day continued with a High Tea in celebration of the launch of the International Conservation Caucus Foundation's (ICCF) Conservation Council of Nations.

ICCF has brought 30 founding countries together to:

- Build a global network of conservation legislators and diplomats
- Support developing nations in sustainable economic development practices
- Create a structure for essential knowledge and resource sharing

The Robert Duvall Children's Fund is pleased to introduce Dan DeVany as the Master of Ceremonies for the October 1, 2011 lecture on the Making of Legendary American Western Films with Robert Duvall. Daniel C. DeVany, vice president and general manager of radio, has more than 20 years experience in public broadcasting. DeVany oversees the overall management of WETA 90.9 FM's daily operations with specific responsibilities in radio programming and production.

Prior to his appointment to head WETA 90.9 FM, DeVany served for three years as program director. Since joining the station in 1986, he has held other positions including morning and evening drive-time announcer and producer.

Before coming to WETA, DeVany worked for the National Symphony Orchestra as head of local corporate development. He also served for two years as manager of the Fine Arts Network of Minnesota Public Radio. From 1984 to 1986, DeVany worked for the Station Independence Program of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) as a fundraising consultant to public television stations across the United States.

DeVany started his career in public broadcasting 1980 at the Maine Public Broadcasting Network, where he served as a reporter and producer for both radio and television. He grew up in his family's newspaper business in Massachusetts, serving in a variety of areas from circulation to production to editorial.

DeVany earned a bachelor's degree in music from the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem and a master's degree in business in arts administration from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He lives with his wife in Northern Virginia.
